Why is the whole world talking about Korea right now? From BTS and BLACKPINK to Squid Game, Parasite, K-beauty and kimchi - the Korean wave is everywhere. But why Korea? And how has a small country suddenly become a global cultural powerhouse that young people (and their parents!) all over the world follow closely? In this lecture, Signe Lilja will enlighten us on the history, the engine and the magic behind Korean pop culture. We delve into how K-pop became a billion-dollar phenomenon driven by choreography, community and fan power; why K-dramas are so popular; and how Korean films, food and makeup have become a permanent part of the everyday lives and identities of many young people around the world. Signe Lilja has worked professionally with the dissemination of Korean pop culture for over six years and she is a regular expert on P 1 and Go' Morgen Danmark.
