Ducks and chickens reduce pests and contribute eggs At Permakulturgården.dk in the Skovvirke agricultural cluster, Mira Illeris and Esben Schultz currently grow 78 different trees, shrubs and vegetables. Biodiversity is increased with ponds and windbreaks of native species, so that insects buzz and toads croak. Food forests provide a long harvest season and more nutritious perennial plants. Food forests store a lot of carbon per hectare, and the authors have created a scenario for reforestation of Denmark in the book PERMAKULTUR with calculations on carbon storage.
