Take your students to the theater and experience Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale as a fun pixie opera. The tale of the Ugly Duckling is told by three pigeons who are bored and decide to act out the entire tale together. They dress up and get so into their roles that they almost forget that it's just supposed to be a fun game... In the Royal Danish Theatre's Pixi Performances, children can get a fun and informal introduction to the theatre's classic art forms; opera, drama, ballet and classical music. Pixi Opera is a mini-format opera made and told for children with songs and musical excerpts from well-known opera titles, but with new lyrics. In The Ugly Duckling, the musical excerpts are from, among others, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, Carl Nielsen's Masquerade, Peter Heise's The King and the Queen, Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow and Emmerich Kálmán's The Czardas Prince.
