Martin Vollertsen is a Danish jazz composer and pianist whose musical approach is characterized by curiosity, authenticity, and a constant focus on the meaningful aspects of art With roots in both jazz legends and the broader landscape of popular culture, Vollertsen draws connections from jazz to folk music and a wealth of different musical cultures—always focusing on expression rather than genre It is a collage of impressions, where honesty is always at the heart of the works, which speak to both the mind and the heart—and leave room for reflection Vollertsen's new album, "When This Becomes Normal," is a collection of original compositions filled with poignant melodies and lively ensemble playing The album’s nine compositions range from solo piano pieces and ballads to lively trio numbers. Joining him on the album are: Frederik Sakham on double bass and John Riddell on drums. The album will be released on September 25, but will be available on vinyl at the concert.
