Recently announced winners of the Jazz Competition, Zinssou Quartet are not afraid to push the boundaries of what a jazz quartet can do. With piano and cello at the forefront, the quartet blends elements from classical music, neo-soul and modern jazz. The band has been praised for their performances, which are ambitious and innovative. Spoken word, well-thought-out transitions and a dynamic range that includes both violent, intense passages and fragile, intimate moments. The young band has an intuitive and searching approach to music in their pursuit of honest and vibrant expression. With a strong presence on stage, Zinssou Quartet lets the listener into a sensitive and playful universe that settles in body and soul.
