A unique intense blue, also called ''Japan blue'' Teacher Ida Christoffersen has recently returned from Japan, where she has immersed herself in shibori techniques on both the Izu Peninsula and in Kawasaki. Many people are familiar with the English tie & dye technique, but fewer have tried the Japanese shibori tradition, where folds, windings or sewn stitches create unique patterns where the color cannot penetrate.
