Ansgar, kings and emperors - Ansgar's mission in Denmark in the 9th century

Based on the book about Ansgar, which will be published in connection with the Ansgar anniversary in 2026, the lecture sheds new light on Ansgar's mission among the Danes in the 9th century. We follow in the footsteps of the 'Apostle of the North', and especially his relationship with the kings and emperors he sought out as part of his attempt to convert the Danes to Christianity. The lecture thus provides both an introduction to Ansgar's life and work, his world and worldviews, and may also contain a surprise or two regarding his relationship to the Danish kings of the time and his work to convert the Danes. The lecture is given by museum curator, Ph D Kasper H. Andersen, Moesgaard Museum. The lecture is free for Haderslev Archive and Museum Association. Non-member: 70 kr.
