With DVD excerpts from operas by Handel, Donizetti and Mussorgsky, the lecture shows how each generation experiences the same works in new ways Great operas live on because each generation encounters them with new experiences, new questions and new eyes. An exceptional singer, a new staging, historical research or events in the world around us can suddenly make a well-known work appear in a completely new light. In this lecture, together with opera expert Thomas Milholt, we follow a number of operas that have each been given new life in their own way.
