Where are you from? talk with nanophysicist and microbiologist Fatima Al Zahra'a Alatraktchi How do bacteria communicate with each other - and what can they teach us about disease, responsibility and life's big questions? This is what Fatima Al Zahra'a Alatraktchi, associate professor of translational biomedicine at Roskilde University, is investigating. She is internationally recognized for her research and has just received DKK 11 million from the Lundbeck Foundation to develop a diagnostic tool. Fatima Al Zahra'a Alatraktchi has been on Forbes' list of Europe's most influential young people in science and health, and her TEDx Talk about bacteria has been viewed by millions. Fatima was born in Kuwait, has roots in Iraq and Lebanon, and grew up in Copenhagen. Based on her research, she shows how even the smallest organisms struggle with cooperation, communication, survival, and conflict - just like we humans do. Her personal story is intertwined with the tale of the secret life of bacteria.
