Johanne Mygind's grandfather was the operations director at Cheminova and the man behind the biggest environmental disaster in Danish history. This story forms the background for Mygind's latest novel 'Poisonous' Johanne Mygind has used her family's history as a starting point for her latest novel "Poisonous" (2025). In the lecture, she talks about the work of delving into the poison of the past and coming out cleansed on the other side. In the novel we follow Nanna, who sets out to uncover the family's history and her grandfather's responsibility in the environmental disaster at Cheminova at Harboøre Tange near Thyborøn in the 1950 s and 60 s. It is both a story about the grandparents' marriage, a special period in Danish history, chemical-induced diseases, devastating silence and West Jutland introversion. And then it is the story of the poison that can be in our human relationships.
