Christian IX was known as Europe's father-in-law. Based on Laurits Tuxen's enormous family portrait of the royal family from 1883, author, former rector and Ph D Marianne Abrahamsen delves into the many stories of Europe's royals. Laurits Tuxen is the artist behind the enormous Fredensborg picture from 1883 of Europe's father-in-law, Christian IX, surrounded by his family: royalty from all over Europe Author of the book "Christian 9th and his family: behind the Fredensborg picture", rector and Ph D Marianne Abrahamsen uncovers in her lecture the exciting stories that hide behind the many royals in the painting These are stories about family and duties, but also about illegitimate children and depressive and unfaithful husbands. Christian IX had his many children married into the European royal houses, and we come close to both the Russian and the English, the Greek and of course the Danish royal houses.
