In 2025, MA in Literature and literary mediator Christine Fur Fischer traveled through Europe with her family in a camper van and a pile of books from the 17 countries the trip took them to. What happens when you don't just travel, but read your way through Europe? In her lecture, Christine Fur Fischer takes us back to her journey in the physical landscapes, combined with literature's look at cities, people, language and culture from the inside. In the lecture, she explains to the audience the function of literature as an entrance to a country's history, everyday life and mental landscape and presents the books she read along the way. Books that she experienced gave access to historical traumas, temperaments, conflicts and everyday life - something that is often not visible to a visitor from the outside, and which in many cases helped to change her view of the country she found herself in while she wasread.
