Can artificial intelligence serve as a therapist? "I'm having a hard time. Can you help me understand why?" For some people, it has become natural to ask a chatbot questions like this But what happens when we use an artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbot as a trusted conversation partner—or perhaps even as a psychologist? As AI chatbots become part of our daily lives, new questions are arising about how they affect our mental well-being. Can the technology offer real support—or does it overlook the nuances that only humans can pick up on? Could it even be dangerous to communicate with chatbots? Meet Bolette Windfeld Thesbjerg, Ph. D. in psychology from Aalborg University, and Søren Dinesen Østergaard, a professor of translational psychiatry at Aarhus University, for a conversation about AI chatbots as a psychological tool. Learn more about what’s at stake when we entrust parts of our inner lives to artificial intelligence. The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds.
