Evening College: Lecture by Jens Olaf Pepke Pedersen: Science, Christianity and Truth

Can science and Christianity speak together - without losing their own voices? And can they together say something significant about truth in a time when truth is often experienced as both contested, fragmented and changeable? Based on his book From Light to Life, nuclear physicist Jens Olaf Pepke Pedersen challenges the notion that faith and knowledge are necessarily opposed to each other. Natural science seeks truth through observations, theories and testing, while Christianity speaks of truth as something that also concerns meaning, responsibility, hope and man's relationship with God. The lecture takes us from cosmology and physics to theology and life experience - and asks whether we are moving towards a new truth, or rather need to rediscover that truth can have multiple dimensions. Jens Olaf Pepke Pedersen is a Ph D in physics and a senior researcher at the Technical University of Denmark, where he works with climate change and space weather.
