Join us for an evening in the tower room about music witches through time. The witch is strongly represented in culture right now, and among musicians there have long been women who have allied themselves with the witch as a powerful symbol of resistance and an alternative being in the world. But why does the witch appear again and again in music created by women? And what does it say about gender, power, resistance and freedom? This evening we dive into musical witches through time - from Stevie Nicks and Yoko Ono to Courtney Love, Florence Welch and many more - coupled with examples from the world of books, historical myths, real-life witch hunts and past notions.about what characterized a witch. The evening is facilitated by Anya Mathilde Poulsen, a librarian and author of the book 'Wild Women, Dark Tones - on Gender and Music'.
