"Democracy is the worst form of government in the world - except for all the others." So said Winston Churchill in 1947. But why does democracy continue to feel frustrating, fragile and indispensable at the same time? In this first edition of 'Think Once' we invite you to a conversation about democracy - as an idea, form of government and crisis narrative. Because democracy seems to be constantly under pressure: Trust in institutions is faltering, public debate is becoming fiercer, and democratic values are being challenged in many places around the world. But is democracy in a particular crisis right now? Or has democracy always been characterized by unrest, dissatisfaction and conflict?
