Teatret Masken presents the dance performance PLEX by choreographer and dancer Alma Toaspern - a solo performance inspired by Plexure: Canadian composer and media artist John Oswald's visionary sound collage from 1993 composed of more than 1,000 pop hits. When the album was released at the dawn of the digital age, it pointed towards a world of algorithms, remix culture and endless streams of content. Today, more than 30 years later, it appears almost prophetic, like an early echo of the constant media noise we live in the midst of. Inspired by the work of John Oswald, Alma Toaspern translates fragments of sound into movement, rhythm and presence. The body becomes a tool to investigate how images, sounds and impulses constantly compete for our attention. Every movement becomes a way of navigating a bombardment of impressions; a physical remix of the way we see, listen and react in a media culture that never stands still.
