Bible translation Once again this year, International Translation Day, Hieronymus Day, is celebrated in Aarhus, when the Danish Translators' Association and Aarhus Literature Center give the floor to Martin Ehrensvärd, Ph D in Semitic Philology and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen. University - and one of the translators behind the new Bible translation. Under the heading "Translating the Sacred Without Making the Language Sacred," Ehrensvärd talks about his work translating the Books of Genesis and how small choices can change the reader's experience. For example, should it be said that Sarah no longer felt "in the way of women," or that she had simply stopped menstruating? Martin Ehrensvärd talks about how, as a translator, one balances between tradition and target audience and about distinguishing between the original text's own foreignness and the foreignness that a Danish translation itself will create.
