A DIY Approach to an Idiosyncratic Body of Work Guitarist, composer and recording artist Reinier Baas' body of work is defined by its unpredictability and its distinctly DIY approach. He has released eleven records as a (co-)leader, and his albums Mostly Improvised Instrumental Indie Music and Reinier Baas vs. Princess Discombobulatrix both earned him an Edison Award. In 2025, he won the Boy Edgar Prize – the most prestigious honour for jazz and improvised music in the Netherlands. His playing moves fluidly between arcane, Bartók-like harmonies, sudden hip-hop rhythms, and passages of wild, improvised cacophony before settling back into angular, ordered form. A Stellar Collaboration Baas is joined on stage by drummer Jamie Peet, one of the most in-demand drummers in the Netherlands, known for blending jazz with hip-hop, dance and electronic influences alongside artists like Jameszoo, Niels Broos and Dolphin Hyperspace. Peet has also toured internationally with Gregory Porter and Kris Bowers, and previously played at Brokers Bar with Y-OTIS and Jasper Hoiby 3 Elements & Tin Men and the Telephone. Rounding out the lineup, double bassist Ton Felices brings a groove-driven, futuristic voice, blending jazz with electronic influences. Amsterdam-based since 2020, Felices is the winner of the Prinses Christina Concours (2021) and Juventudes Musicales de España (2022), and was named Best Amsterdam Soloist at the 2024 Keep An Eye International Jazz Competition. He has collaborated with Ben van Gelder, Miguel Zenón and Rita Payés, among others. Player's Session After the concert, the music continues with a Player's Session – all musicians welcome.
