Hear three researchers talk about the biology of the coffee plant, its cultivation, the impact climate change will have on the coffee of the future, and the health aspects of coffee. What is coffee? Botanist Anders Barfod, who has been researching tropical plant resources for more than four decades, will provide a broad introduction to the botany of the coffee plant. You'll also hear about what exactly the coffee bean is in the fruit, and gain insight into how to get from the ready-to-harvest fruit on the coffee bush to the steaming cup of coffee that many of us enjoy every day. The coffee of the future Natural resource economist Aske Skovmand Bosselmann will talk about coffee cultivation and how farmers around the world not only produce coffee beans, but also ecosystem services that we can all benefit from.
