In 1923, at the age of 17, Bergithe Johannessen traveled from Tórshavn to London to pursue her artistic dream. Join us for an evening about a strong woman's life, the Faroe Islands, watercolor painting and the courage to go your own way Bergithe Johannessen was a pioneer in Faroese art. In 1925, she was the first Faroese ever to enter the Academy of Fine Arts School of Painting in Copenhagen. Yet her life story has remained largely unknown. In a new book, Anya Mathilde Poulsen and Gunvor Bjerre have followed in Bergithe Johannessen's footsteps and collected her exciting life story before it was forgotten.
