Experience an amazing science lecture livestreamed directly from Aarhus University Below the ocean's surface, seaweed forms spectacular underwater forests that are important for marine life and the global climate. New research shows that seaweed can also help solve future challenges in health, food, climate and the environment. Below the ocean's surface, seaweed grows in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. Kelp forests that grow along the world's coastlines are as important to marine ecosystems as forests are to life on land. From the poles to the equator, seaweed provides both food and hiding places for countless marine organisms such as fish and small animals At the same time, seaweed contributes to keeping both the marine environment and the climate in balance, as seaweed absorbs nutrients from seawater, absorbs CO 2 from the atmosphere, produces oxygen and counteracts ocean acidification. - Date: 17 November 2026 - Time: 19:00–21:00 - Venue: Kultur- og Aktivitetscentret STIEN - Address: Paltholmterrasserne 1, Farum, Denmark - Admission: Free
