Extended Morning Song: Birds in the High School Songbook

Welcome to a festive, extended version of Wednesday's morning song. Here we focus on the birds in the high school songbook. The High School Songbook is teeming with birds. In fact, there are so many winged creatures fluttering around between the blue songbook covers that at least one bird appears in every third high school song. The bird is thus one of the most used phenomena in the songbook, but due to the biodiversity crisis, many of the songbook's highly praised birds are today categorized as extinct or endangered species. In this song lecture we will sing our way through the Danish bird population and take a closer look at the state of the different species in the songbook and in nature. Because even though things have gone the wrong way for several of the native species, there are exceptions - and they may also need a song. The singing lecture is held by Mikkel Skovgaard, historian and communicator of the folk high school songbook.
