What to know

What happens when the body, the energy, the everyday life do not fit into the ideal of the independent, efficient and capable human being? And how do our notions of normality shape our understandings of value, community and the good life? In this presentation, Olivia Dahl, post doc at the University of Copenhagen, presents her Ph D project "From outsider to crip", which, through interviews, focus groups and collective poetry, thematizes how people with disabilities navigate contemporary norms of normality, capability andthe good life. The presentation invites reflection on the ideals that characterize our society and the demands it places on us humans.
