Galsterei is an Old German loanword from Old Norse, covering singing witchcraft. But it is also the name of Steffen Galster's Danish-language melancholic songs, delivered with disarming whimsy on the mandola (a large mandolin). Entirely acoustic or spun into a web of delays and overdrives, Galsterei opens up a raw, stripped-down and naked sound universe with room for great emotions and arm movements, where humor and misanthropy dance closely together and forget who is who.
