About this event

What to know

Psyche, control and modern treatment OCD is much more than a need for order and routine. For people with OCD, obsessions and compulsions can be so overwhelming that they limit everyday life and cause anxiety and exhaustion. But what exactly is OCD, and why does the disorder occur? In this lecture you will gain insight into one of the most misunderstood mental disorders. Michelle Sophia Lange Bachmann, clinical psychologist and Ph D student at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Aarhus University Hospital, talks about the possible causes behind OCD and how the disorder is treated today. The lecture also focuses on the many forms of OCD - from checking rituals and cleaning to intrusive thoughts - and dispels the myths that often characterize our understanding of the disorder. The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds. Find the full program Here.
