Halloween is the peak season for scary experiences. But why do we voluntarily seek out fear, and can a good scare actually have a positive effect? Experience fear researcher Mathias Clasen as he presents the latest research into recreational fear. Horror movies, true crime, haunted houses, dark games - people of all ages voluntarily seek out experiences that make our hearts race and our hairs stand on end. But what drives us towards that which should scare us away? And is it just entertainment, or is there something deeper hiding beneath the surface? In this lecture, Mathias Clasen shares the latest research into recreational fear.
