Description. Program: Tchaikovsky: Capriccio Italien. Bartók: Violin Concerto No. 1. Dvorák: Symphony No. 8. Conductor: Carl-Oscar Østerlind Soloist: Malin Broman Lyngby-Taarbæk Symphony Orchestra begins the 2026-07 season with a program of exclusively Eastern European composers, playing music by Russian Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), Hungarian Béla Bartok (1881-1945) and Czech Antonin Dvorák (1841-1904). These are composers who were all three specifically inspired by the folk music of their respective home countries. A material that, for Dvorák and especially Bartok, was collected and studied meticulously - almost scientifically - and became an inexhaustible source for their own compositions. The concert will be conducted by Carl-Oscar Østerlind, who despite his young age is an old acquaintance of the orchestra. He is one of Denmark's most prominent cellists, and has trained as a conductor alongside his career as a soloist.
