On March 15, 2015, Kendrick Lamar released the album To Pimp a Butterfly - a release that has gone down in music history. Not only as one of the strongest hip-hop albums, but as one of the most significant albums ever This is supported by the music database Rate Your Music, where the album, with a score of 4.38 out of 5, ranks first among the best-rated albums of all time. Kendrick Lamar had already made a real mark in 2012 with the commercial breakthrough "GOOD KID, MAAD CITY", which truly cemented his position as one of hip-hop's absolute heavyweights. The references in Kendrick's music are many: 2 Pac's political indignation, James Brown's jazzy flow and Funkadelic's experimental use of samples. But despite these parallels, no hip-hop album has been released before or since with the same combination of political, musical, social and commercial weight as To Pimp a Butterfly. Librarian Emil R.
