In early November 1922, archaeologists found a royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor - a tomb that would prove to contain unimaginable amounts of grave goods. The tomb belonged to Tut-ankh-amon from the 18th dynasty of the New Kingdom: a child king who reigned for 9 years until he was possibly assassinated at the age of just 18. Tutankhamun's very well-preserved tomb, filled with lavish and valuable objects, testifies to a society with many resources and great wealth. You will learn more about this in this lecture about an exciting time in Egyptian history, namely the Amarna period.
