About this event

What to know

Breathe Deep, conscious breathing can be an effective way to reduce stress and anxiety and improve our overall well-being When we experience stress, the body triggers a fight-or-flight response, which increases the heart rate and causes rapid, shallow breathing By focusing on our breathing, we can stimulate the body’s parasympathetic nervous system—including through the vagus nerve—and thereby support the body’s natural calming system. Join us for a guided breathing session with a neurobiologist Karen Johanne Pallesen. We’re wearing headphones so we can immerse ourselves in the exercises and feel how our breath can be used as a path to calm and mental balance. The event will also take place 12:45–1:00 p.m. The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds. Find the full program Here.
