In this evening's lecture, piracy researcher Jessica Larsen from the Danish Institute for International Studies will talk about her research and work on modern piracy. The lecture is based on Jessica's contribution, 'Pirates', to Aarhus University's Forget wooden legs, pirate flags and treasure maps. Today's piracy is about something much more serious - and complex. It's about poverty, about protection from other and much more powerful armed actors and about a very complicated piece of law. On this evening, maritime security expert Jessica Larsen takes us out onto the oceans and into the reality behind the headlines about modern piracy.
