What to know

I have spent 18 years in prison, lived with a drug addiction for 24 years, been clean for 20 years and been part of the criminal environment for 35. I have lived in a vicious spiral of addiction and choices that constantly led me further away from myself. What do I tell you? Sore? My upbringing was very turbulent; I was placed in eight different places and always felt out of place. That's why I started taking drugs and committing crimes at the age of 11. When I turned 16, I was old enough to go straight to prison - and I did! I have been in Vestre Prison over 50 times - often it has saved my life to go in and sit because I got a break from it all. The drugs and crime have taken a lot from me, but never my good mood, which I have shared with both fellow prisoners and officers. After I stopped using drugs, I didn't stop committing crime - I just got even better at it and specialized my methods for committing burglaries.
