Middelfart Pottery Factory - Special Exhibition of the Year 2026

The exhibition takes you into a time when the desire for a nice home spread throughout all walks of life. The goulash barons bought fine porcelain at the time, but what could ordinary homes put on their shelves and windowsills? You will find the answer in this exhibition. The factory utilized the local Middelfart blue clay, which was readily available in the old clay pit, which was once located in the middle of the city. The factory's designer Oluf Brusendorff designed functional and decorative objects during the period of the 1890 s to the 1940 s. The exhibition has been created in collaboration between Middelfart Museum and Middelfart City Archives, both of which have extensive material from the factory in their collections. This is the first time that this local historical production unit from Middelfart is displayed at the museum.
