I would be delighted to see you at the book reception for my new book "The Victim - What the Victim Role Awakens in Us". It is about our relationship with victims and those who want to be recognized as victims. Both in close relationships, at work and in society. As a conflict mediator and in other contexts, I have often encountered a mixture of anger and paralysis when someone has taken or been given a victim role. One can become overly cautious and dishonest towards people who are in the victim role. I have encountered it in leaders, in professionals, in family members - and in myself. The book is an attempt to understand what the victim role does to others. Why is it difficult to talk about responsibility? Why do we become overly cautious and hold back criticism - even when we actually think it is justified? Why do we stop saying something funny that we might have said if we felt we were in an equal relationship? And what can we do to escape the taboo that the victim role often envelops us in?
